more flats

the line

I have coloured on of my flats on illustrator, i have a problem!!!it has a line going through the middle. This is because the feathers I scanned in are irredescent, the top of the swatch is darker than the bottom half. I do know how to overcome this problem. I will have to change the scan in on photoshop. to make theoffset 540 ) so the horizontal line is halfway, then by using the clone stamp tool i can clone the divide and blend the colours in. This will set me back six hours and i do not have that much time at the moment.

C.A.D

I am also at the moment busy with my computer aided design flat drawings for my dresses i designed for ann mao.

i have so far completed six pages on adobe, which is three designs. So i have one design left to draw out on the computor (front and back). then i have my four spec sheets to be getting on with, and also my cad essay and my file. I do feel quite overloaded with cad work at the moment and i'm finding it hard to think about other projects.

the design on the left took me five hours to draw out, it has so many feathers on, its a complete cad nightmare!

60's

I have been given a new brief and i found it hard to pick a topic initially, I looked at images that inspired me and combined them together. One thing I noticed is that these images were not wishy washy and very vibrantly coloured. One thing i can not stand is wishy washy paint, weak colour.

I had alot of images relating to nature and the earth, the thing that was vividly screaming from this selection of images was 1960's.

1960's has always been the decade that has inspired me most.

I then researched more into the subject, into 60's art most of this was art deco, i did not really want to go down this route.

This time when making my garments i want them to be brightly coloured, i tend to stick to black when designing or mixing a colour with black. I need to get out of this comfort zone.

As an artist colour has always been my strong point and i think this should reflect onto my garment designs.

I have sketched out some rough plans on how i want my garments to be. I want them to have a 1960's silloette, vivid colour and vivid pattern, iv been researching different flowers and the most suited to get an interesting pattern out of is probably the passion flower.

I have not based a topic on an era before and at the moment i feel like there is a million things i could be doing, the thing i am most interested in would be to research the people and get a good insight to how they behaved and what it was like living in 1960's.

SWOT Analysis

Today i recieved my mark back for my evening wear dress >71%
I am very pleased with this mark however i could have picked up easy marks on my sketchbook.

My strengths are: my presentation of my sketchbook, atmospheric drawings. I have indicated the dress process fully. i have carefully considered the possible solutions to variuos problems as and when they occured.

My weaknesses:
My reflective aspect of the project could be further enhanced through exploring your feelings and failures.
not confident with industrial machines
pattern cutting could be better

Opportunities:
continue to practice on industrial machines which enable me to produce more complex and technically challenging designs.
be more precise when pattern cutting

FLAT DRAWINGS

one thing im the worst at is drawing hand rendoured flats,

i have been drawing some up for my portfolio

i find its easier to draw a garment if it is on a hanger it looks more natural rather than trying to draw it flat on the table.
